Two weeks remain to submit to The Apostrophe. Don't miss the deadline!
Why should you submit your work to The Apostrophe, the new literary magazine of the Hong Kong Writers Circle?
This is not an old, hoary publication with a history stretching back to storied antiquity - this is a new publication and we want to showcase both new writers and new work by established writers.
Never submitted something before in your life? Now is the time. Give it a try - perhaps just for practice!
You're an old hand with a publication list so long it takes several taps of "page down" to get through it? We'd love to see what you've done lately. (In fact - maybe this is the right time to experiment with something you've never done.)
Somewhere in between? Go ahead and submit - we love reading new work.
Our only request is that there be a connection - however tenuous - with Hong Kong. It can be just a short mention in the text, a character from Hong Kong, or a family somewhere in the world enjoying Hong Kong style dim sum together. We are looking for short stories, poetry, artwork, photography, non-fiction, hybrid, novel excerpts, or other formats not mentioned here.
We intend to publish five pieces each quarter (for now) - reflecting the five points of Bauhinia Blakeana, Hong Kong's iconic flower. We believe this is just the right number to ensure that whatever gets published will actually get read by our subscribers.
Submissions for our first issue will close at 11:59pm Hong Kong on April 30, 2023.
For details, please see our submissions guidelines here.
If you have questions about the magazine or the submissions process, email hkwcmagazine@gmail.com.
