Announcing: The Apostrophe
On an annual basis, the Hong Kong Writers Circle publishes an anthology of short stories. But our members have more creativity to showcase.
A quarterly publication of five original pieces
Each quarter, the five points of the bauhinia flower - Hong Kong’s emblem - will be paralleled by exactly five original pieces by Hong Kong writers: short stories, poetry, artwork, non-fiction, hybrid, or other formats not mentioned here.
Artists and photographers are also encouraged to submit their work and there are no limits on submissions.
Anyone can submit; only members can publish
You do not need to be a member to submit; however, if a piece is accepted, the author must be a HKWC member before it is published. Join here:

(This does not apply to artists and photographers - artists with a connection to Hong Kong preferred.)
Submission guidelines
Submissions will be open for the first month of each quarter (January 1-31, April 1-30, July 1-31, and October 1-31). No payment for submissions at this time. Follow the standard publication format. Submit in Word. Maximum word count 10,000 (but shorter is better). Include content warnings as appropriate. No submission fee. Simultaneous submissions allowed, but please withdraw if the piece has been published elsewhere. Send all submissions to hkwcmagazine [at] gmail [dot] com.
